On 11th March 2026, Sr. Margarita Jenni Leupi passed away in Medellín, Colombia, at the age of 96.
She was born in the Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland, on 1st December 1930. After completing her studies, she served as a lay missionary in Burkina Faso and Angola for several years until, on the recommendation of the Spiritan Missionaries, she requested admission to the Congregation of the Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix.
She entered the Congregation on 4th October 1975. She made her First Profession in Piedralaves, Ávila, on 16th July 1978 and her Perpetual Profession on 6th January 1985 in Medellín, Colombia.
She spent her life as a Missionary of Mary Mediatrix in Venezuela, but above all in Colombia, where people remember her as a cheerful, spontaneous sister, concerned for others, especially the sick, and always ready to serve wherever she was needed.
In recent years she was physically limited. The Lord called her to His presence after a lifetime dedicated to Him.
