The Luis Pinilla Foundation has awarded the Missionaries of Mary the Mediatrix the 2025 Distinction “for their work at Nuestra Señora del Rosario Nursery School and for the educational and social work they have carried out since 1964 in the Villaverde Alto neighbourhood”.
Sr. Mercedes Arbesú, Superior General of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix, received the award during the ceremony held in the plenary hall of the Villaverde Alto Municipal Council.

In her words of thanks, she paid tribute to all the sisters—Spanish, Colombian, Indian, Malawian and Honduran—who have worked and continue to work in the neighbourhood, above all she remembered those who have passed away and who did so much to promote the community around the parish of San Félix such as Sr. Fe, Sr. Augusta, Sr. Ana and Sr. Marta, among others.
“This award, which we receive with emotion and joy, is both an incentive and a challenge; it inspires us to remain committed to children’s education and to work together with all members of the community to improve life in this neighbourhood.”
Representatives of the Municipal Council, members of the Luis Pinilla Foundation, the Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix, friends and residents of Villaverde Alto were present at the award ceremony held on 17 April.

Every year, the Luis Pinilla Foundation recognises the personal or institutional work carried out supporting the youth, in memory of the work, dedication and commitment that Luis Pinilla Soliveres (1921–2004) devoted to the youth throughout his life, particularly the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
