On 23 May, the opening ceremony of Madre Rosario Day Care Centre took place in Borreiros, in the municipality of Gondomar, Pontevedra.
The bishop of the diocese of Tui-Vigo, Mons. Antonio Valín Valdés, blessed the Centre, in a ceremony attended by the Councillor for Social Policy, Fabiola García, the Deputy for Social Welfare, Sandra Bastos, the mayors of the Vall Miñor area as well as other invited authorities.

The Amancio Ortega Gaona Foundation has contributed one and a half million euros to the construction of the Centre, to open in September.
The Centre has a capacity for 40 people and facilities that include a rehabilitation room and a multi-purpose room for the care of the elderly. It also has a kitchen, dining room and common areas. It is surrounded by a large garden area next to the San José Nursery School, located a few metres from the Centre.

Sr. Mercedes Arbesú, Superior General of the Congregation of the Missionaries of Mary Mediatrix, defined the importance of this work, stressing that ‘this centre wants to extend a hand to those who, with their lives and dedication, have written the history of this area of Vall Miñor’; and thanked the Amancio Ortega Gaona Foundation for its sensitivity and empathy for the elderly and for bringing the construction of the new Madre Rosario centre to a successful conclusion.

She ended her speech by assuring that ‘it is with deep gratitude that today we can say that Madre Rosario Day Care Centre is ready to begin its journey. Thanks to our patroness Mary Mediatrix who presides over the chapel, we entrust this centre to Her may she be the one who accompanies and supports us, who guides us in this stage, which we are starting with so much enthusiasm’.
