Chemperi is located in southern India, in the State of Kerala, Kannur district. Diocese of Tellicherry.
Most of the population are migrants from other parts of Kerala. People live from agriculture.
In 1998 the Diocese of Tellicherry opened a University for young people; VIMAL JOHI ENJINERING COLLAGE, at present about 2000 students are studying in it, belonging to different religions and social classes.
Within the university campus, there are the university residence halls.
The Diocese asked the Congregation for a witnessing presence in the midst of the young women. Two of our sisters have been providing this service since 2008, managing the residence for young women studying engineering. Their mission is to “be” in “being” a witness of life for the girls; they take care of their human and spiritual formation; they organize their study time, listen to them and guide them in their difficulties, creating a family and welcoming atmosphere.
